Tips for Building Confidence When Starting Something New

Lately I’ve been trying to push myself into new things — like taking a weekend photography class — but every time I’m about to start, I get this weird mix of excitement and panic. I keep thinking everyone else will instantly know what they’re doing while I stand there pretending I’m not clueless. Has anyone found a way to get past that awkward “first step” feeling? I’m tired of talking myself out of stuff I actually want to try.

I had the same issue last year when I switched to a new job field — no one said anything negative, but I still felt like I didn’t belong. What helped me was reminding myself that most people aren’t paying that much attention anyway; they’re too focused on their own worries.
