Any hacks for remembering all these drug classes?

Pharmacology is officially my nemesis. There are way too many drug classifications, contraindications, and side effects to keep track of. I’ve tried flashcards, but they’re not really helping me understand how these drugs actually work in the body. Does anyone have a better approach for learning drug classes without losing their mind?

You’re not alone; pharmacology is easily the most overwhelming subject in any nursing program. The key is to focus on the prototypes rather than trying to memorize every single medication on the market. I found that using the practice tests at https://www.simplytests.com/exams/nursing-school helped me understand the primary mechanism of action for each drug class. Once you understand the prototype, the rest of the class starts to make sense. It’s a much more sustainable way to learn compared to rote memorization, and it will definitely help you feel more confident during your clinical exams.
